While this infographic includes startling statistics for the state of Texas, be mindful, these numbers include our city and neighboring communities as well. The tide on this trend can turn and it is one of my goals to see EVERY Aldine ISD student that starts their education finish their education with a diploma and adequate skills to be competitive locally, nationally and internationally!

There are two action based strategies that can begin addressing this issue immediately:

Community-based action – that reclaims neighborhood public schools, strengthens schools through school-community partnerships and holds schools and stakeholders accountable for student success.

Statewide systems change – to strengthen school holding power so ALL schools regardless of the socioeconomic construct of the community ensure that ALL children succeed and graduate with LIFE SKILLS and not merely test taking skills. Each strategy must be informed by consistent quality data about student outcomes and the factors that make up effective schools so that schools deemed ineffective can have a working model of how to steer their campus towards success.

I’m committed to seeing this change happen in Aldine ISD and believe with your help, Aldine will be a model School District for America! I would be deeply honored to have your support and opportunity to serve our community. Please vote for me, Jamail Johnson, on November 5, for Aldine ISD School Board Trustee, Position 1!
